  • Do you offer a design consultation service?
    Yes, we offer both complimentary In-Studio Consultations and In-Home Consultations for a fee. In-Studio Consultations include a visit to our studio to meet with one of our experienced Interior Decorators who help you choose the fabrics and products needed for your project. You are welcome to take home samples, fabric books, artwork, and table lamps in order to make final decisions. This is a complimentary service. In-Home Consultations involve a one-hour visit to your home by one of our experienced Interior Decorators who will give you advice on furniture layouts, paint colours, and additional touches that can be added to ensure a successful project. The consultation adds a layer of comfort when you are selecting fabric for your window treatments, upholstered furniture, accent pillows, or bedding. The fee for an In-Home Consultation is $250+HST.
  • How do you charge for your decorating services?
    We offer full-service decorating in a single room or a whole home. After a site visit where we discuss your decorating goals and take comprehensive measurements and photos, you will receive a detailed decorating fee proposal as well as a document outlining the scope of work to be completed. This information is provided to you at the outset of the project so you can be sure of the value and level of service you will receive in exchange for your investment. The fee is determined based on an estimate of the number of hours it will take to select, source, order, deliver, and style the furniture, area rugs, artwork, and accessories to complete your decorating project.
  • I just need a room refresh. Do you take on small projects?
    Yes! No project is too small. Our decorating services are for you if your project is one room or a whole home. We begin with our In-Home Decorating Consultation, offered at $250+HST. We visit your home, take careful notes, and then provide you with a decorating service proposal and a document outlining the scope of work. We provide recommendations for furniture style and placement and window treatments, and we can help you to select paint colours, area rugs, artwork, and accessories.
  • What does it cost to furnish a room?
    Subscribe to our mailing list to receive our BTYI Furniture & Finishes: Home Investment Guide to understand some of the costs associated with home decorating. We work with you to set a realistic budget for the transformation you’d like to undertake. Not every project will need every item, but this is meant to be a comprehensive resource.
  • How long does it take to have custom items made?
    The nature of custom window treatments and upholstery means that the process can take longer than buying items that are ready-made. Once the fabric is received by the workrooms, our lead times are*: Drapery: 6-8 weeks, including installation Roman Shades: 6-8 weeks, including installation Custom Sewing (accent pillows, bedding): 2-3 weeks Reupholstery (loveseats, sofas, chairs): 4-5 weeks Light Reupholstery (bench cushions, dining seats, ottomans): 3-4 weeks Large Upholstery (sectionals, sofas, accent chairs, dining chairs): 16-18 weeks *We are unable to guarantee lead times, but we do provide our best estimate.
  • Do you offer measurement and installation services?
    Yes, included in the project proposal is a site visit by our drapery expert. We meet at your home to take careful measurements of every window in the scope of the project. Once the draperies, shades, or valances are made, the installation is scheduled and your beautiful window treatments are professionally installed, all included in the proposal.
  • Can you reupholster furniture?
    Yes, Buy The Yard Interiors is proud to offer reupholstery services! If you have high-quality, well-made upholstered furniture that is a little bit tired but still in very good condition, we recommend reupholstery services. We can help you select the perfect fabric to ensure your favourite piece remains in your home for years to come. We are honoured to help clients reupholster and modernize their precious antique pieces and sentimental family heirlooms. These pieces always make the best transformations.
  • Can I change my mind once the custom order is placed?
    Your custom products are considered final sale and they go into production once the fabric is received. The good news is that we work so closely with you before we begin manufacturing that second guesses are rare. To ensure that you’re confident about a project before placing your order, we encourage clients to take advantage of our In-Home Consultation service.
  • What is your return policy?
    All custom-made items are considered final sale, including accent pillows. For accessories and decor items purchased in-store, the item must be in the same condition that you received it in order to make a return within 14 days of the original purchase. The item must be unused with tags, in its original packaging, and with the receipt to receive a refund. Any fabric items such as accent pillows, throw blankets, and bedding cannot be returned if the item has been used or washed. All items must be in the original packaging. Live plants are considered final sale and we do not offer any warranty.
  • Do you offer maintenance or cleaning services?
    We don’t offer maintenance or cleaning services but are happy to provide you with our Care & Cleaning Guide. This resource offers you instructions as well as a list of partnering businesses that offer these services.
